Peach leaf curl – when can we take the frame away?

On 27 April 2020, a reader asks:

In Cambridge, as we’ve had such a dry warm April, can we take our espalier frame down earlier than the end of May? We use the frame (made by my son) every year pretty successfully controlling peach leaf curl. The odd infected leaf that emerges near the end of the open frame is quickly removed and destroyed. The tree seems very advanced this year with peaches already 1″ in size but branches are pressing hard against the polythene of the frame.

Dan replies:

I would say the safe period to remove the frame, will be after the 14th of May this year.
