Swan is a dessert plum, producing round fruit with a fine flavour, ripening in mid-August. The plums have a dark red skin with a purple bloom. The plums are also good for cooking. The tree is an old variety, introduced by the Thomas Rivers nursery in Hertfordshire in 1897. It is self-sterile and needs a pollinator.
